OMG- I'm a bitch!

Hey pups! Just to let you know why there hasn't been recent posts and won't be for a bit because I AM STARTING MY FIRST SEASON!

Dina Mom: This probably does not apply to most of you but I please ask you not to leave comments saying that Dina should have been spayed. I and the rest of the family have talked and thought about this. So no hurtful, mean or rude comments please. However, helpful comments and good advice is always welcome!

Your fully matured bitch,
Dina

We are the best!

Hey pups! It's celebration time again, as we have recieved yet another nomination for an award. This time it is the Liebster Award!

Probably the time when my family, before Dina, went for a walk and we were waiting for the bus back and I kept saying "The bus is coming!" when it wasn't becuase I found it hilarious when they leapt up. I kept on doing it until it lost its magic. Then the actual bus was coming and they didn't believe me, so I just let it go past. SociaWalks....Kinda

Hey pups! After Mom's yesterday post, you must all be asleep so I'll wake you up with some fun and exciting news. I visited my sister today! If any of you have checked out my 'Cast' page you will know who she is. Before today this was the only photo we had of her:

Pretty poop, isn't it? That was taken when she was not even four months old and as you can imagine she has changed-as have I. We didn't really have a plan, Mom and I just walked over to Kiara's house and off we went. Let's just say it wasn't all licks and wags from second 1. In fact it was the opposite and we walked as if we were on separate walks. Kiara's Mom told us about a Nature Reserve that she knew about and we didn't- our destination was settled. It was by a main motorway so Mom was hesitant about letting me off leash but after walking through the first field, she saw the fencing was secure- really like two layers of chicken wire, a wooden rail fence, trees, bushes, wide metal fence and then a little while beyond a garden style fence- so she let me off. Mamma has bought me two flying rings (we left one at Kiara's :( today and Mom wanted to try them out so she threw one. That uncovered a new layer within me: possessive. All heck broke loose and I went back on leash and the hoop went away. Although there was some mishaps, I did go belly deep in a lake and took and few steps in to a stream! Mom was overjoyed. Without out further ado, the photos- sorry for the rubbish quality but a) Mom took them with her phone and b) it's really hard to hold me back and take good pictures.

On our way!

Wackadoodle!

We were ok like this

See that heart on her leg?

Sniff, sniff!

Family!
The Broadwalk

What is she looking at?

Ducks, sis!

Kiara butt!

Shakey, shake!

What?

Cutie face!

Chillaxing!

Crazies!

Regal!

When we were walking back, Mom and I popped in over to Kiara's and despite our walkie mishaps, boy did we have fun in the garden! It was a chasefest!

Thus I must depart but before I go let me give ya'll pups nightmares:

Marley and Me: Reading and Re-Reading the Best Book in the World

Hey pups! Mom has been begging me for ages to let her rave about her favourite book, which you guessed is: Marley and Me! So good luck...

The first time I picked up Marley and Me, I didn't really get it. I hadn't been into read for a long time and was looking through the Animal section in our public library to see if there was anything worth while. I came across Marley and Me, I picked it up and read the blurb; it was okay so out it went. I got to about chapter 6 or 7 and it bored me to death and I returned it.

Bored,yet?

About 3 years later, I was flicking through the book section in a charity shop and came across this book again (strangely enough it was in the children's section- I honestly wouldn't put it there!). By this time I loved to read and loved dogs more than ever. This copy was a beautiful special edition that cost 30 US Dollars but as it was a charity shop it was up for 2 pounds! Insane! So I bought it but-as can be expected- I did not read it straight away, only a couple of weeks after. I don't remember much from the first read just that I have read it at least 5 times -stoopid, Mom!- and have cried, laughed and smiled with never diminishing joy and sympathy, if anything it has grown. This book has become a best friend to me. It isn't about just a life with a dog, it shows what dogs can teach us and how they ingrain in our minds and lives.

"A dog has no use for fancy cars, big homes, or designer clothes. A water log stick will do just fine. A dog doesn't care if your rich or poor, clever or dull, smart or dumb. Give him your heart and he'll give you his. How many people can you say that about? How many people can make you feel rare and pure and special? How many people can make you feel extraordinary?"

“Animal lovers are a special breed of humans, generous of spirit, full of empathy, perhaps a little prone to sentimentality, and with hearts as big as a cloudless sky”

“Dogs are great. Bad dogs, if you can really call them that, are perhaps the greatest of them all.”

“Then I dropped my forehead against his and sat there for a long time, as if I could telegraph a message through our two skulls, from my brain to his. I wanted to make him understand some things.

You know all that stuff we’ve always said about you?” I whispered. “What a total pain you are? Don’t believe it. Don’t believe it for a minute, Marley.” He needed to know that, and something more, too. There was something I had never told him, that no one ever had. I wanted him to hear it before he went.

Marley,” I said. “You are a great dog.”

and of course the best until last:

“A person can learn a lot from a dog, even a loopy one like ours. Marley taught me about living each day with unbridled exuberance and joy, about seizing the moment and following your heart. He taught me to appreciate the simple things-a walk in the woods, a fresh snowfall, a nap in a shaft of winter sunlight. And as he grew old and achy, he taught me about optimism in the face of adversity. Mostly, he taught me about friendship and selflessness and, above all else, unwavering loyalty.”

I hope you read it and love it as much as I do!

Hugs,
Dina Mom

Hey pups! We went geocaching again yesterday, finding our 4th ever cache (impressive, I know!). This what we meant to do on the Puppia breaking in walk but we didn't manage to.

The Name Game

Hey pups! After reading Two Pitties in the City's post titled: Sociabulls: On the Most Popular Dog Names. So I thought I would share the story of my naming and some popular dog names.

After a quick sniff around the internet Mom found a couple of pages that had the most popular dog names.

From the female list, these are my favourites:

  • Coco
  • Chloe
  • Sadie
From the male list:

  • Bear
  • Buddy
  • Cooper
Mom and I are not big fans of giving human names to dogs. We think that dogs are individual and different from humans (duh!) and deserve their own name. That is why Mom didn't really search around the internet when naming me; instead she thought about it and worked with what she could come up with. This was the short-list of my possible names:

  • Coral-Mom
  • Broszka-Big Guy
  • Dina-Bog Guy
  • Sporty-Big Guy
  • Uno-Mom
The second option appeared after I had come home and Mom didn't like it much. What do you guys think of the short-list?

Why?

Dina Mom: I chose the name I did because Big Guy's family's second Boxer was named Dina (first was Dox) and she died at six months of age- of worms I think- and I thought it would be nice to keep the name alive in our family.

Now you know why each day I sign off with Dina, not Bella or Lola! What is the story behind your names, pups?

Dina
