Lazing Through the Lanes

Hey pups! I had to employ the 'creativity' of Mom to help me come up with an L word that would allow me to talk about today's trek. Together we came up with 'Lazing'. Why? Well, today's hike was a fairly short and easy walk: there were no hills to climb, simple to catch buses there and back and the route was plain but enjoyable. You can say it was a lazy walk.

Our public footpath started opposite a pub where we got via a 37 minute bus ride meaning that the walk started at around 9:40am. In the beginning we were walking by a little stream and Mom tentatively threw my frisbee a few times until it landed in a patch of stinging nettle and she had to fetch it (pun not intended) in 3/4 shorts. Ouch! I watched from the sidelines and barked for her to hurry up!

Cute lil' waterfall

Adorable, cute, sweet, hug-alicious me!!!
We soon came to a field where the frisbee came back to say hi! and we played a bit. I also went into a boggy mud puddle. There was some road walking which wasn't too nice but not as bad as on Wednesday and we soon settled into our chosen bridleway. However:

Noooo! The worst thing! But Mom is a follower not a leader so I had to do my sniffing au-leash. #French

In this Combe Court place there were a lot of non dog-friendly stiles which Mom had to lift bog mud covered me over. Soon we came to a forest where I was allowed off leash and after that a fenced field. Frisbee is out again!

(DM: She lives for these fields. Whenever we come across one Dina jumps against me to get her disc out.) She speaks the truth; I do live for these fields and food and toys and treats and walks and treats and snuggles and treats and  training and treats. I mentioned treats, right?

Railways and Mom don't go together. She hates trains. So you can imagine what she felt when we had to cross a railway line. (DM: I thought my heart would stop.) Mom almost ran across whilst carrying me still covered in bog. Luckily, we didn't die and there was a nice field waiting for us on the other side where we took the following photos.

Streams seemed to be prevailing during this trek and sure enough we came up to another one. This one was shallow and small so we walked through it rather than over the bridge.

That's not very deep

Field again where I managed to get myself into adjacent private land to chase a pheasant. Yay me!

Easy peasy last stretch to the bus stop and home sweet home!

Licks and Wags,
Dina

  3. Thanks for all the beautiful pics today, it's so lovely to see spring vicariously, at least. We had snow again today, just when it looked like winter was over.

    1. Snow is an alien concept here. Or at least proper snow that sticks around for months. Mom tell me there were a couple of time we had snow for a week and then it went for the rest of they year. However in 2014 we just had rain. And lots of it.
